Insurance For Protecting Spatial Plannings
September 2003 bd Systems Spatial Division wins FHWA Bridge Management Research Contract The US Department of Transportation competitively awarded a 5 year, $4.1 million dollar CPFF contract to Bd Systems, Inc. to assist the Federal Highway Administration in Bridge Management System Research and Development. This award enables the continuation of services to the FHWA that the bd Systems Spatial Division has provided over the past 6 years through multiple contract vehicles. Past services to be continued include data mining of the National Bridge Inventory, statistical analysis and deterioration modeling, bridge management life cycle costing and risk assessment, application of artificial intelligence in bridge management research, policy analysis, and software tool development. This new award expands services bd Systems will be providing to the Division of Infrastructure Research and Development, to include research related to bridge element-level data, technology transfer, and the development of a spatially enabled data warehouse including data integrated from other program areas to promote advanced data mining and analysis. bd Systems' Spatial Division selected by Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning to Implement New Zoning Web Site bd Systems' Spatial Division has been selected by the Los Angeles County Department of Regional Planning to develop a new Zone Change Ordinance database and Map-based Web application. bd Systems will design and implement the Web site and will process and geo-reference more than 3,000 Zone Change Ordinance Maps going back to 1924. The project also includes the enhancement of the existing GIS-NET Web site, which is built around ArcIMS and ArcSDE. The site provides a full-range of functionality designed to support the complex regional planning function in a simple to use format that does not require in depth knowledge of GIS. July 2003 The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works has awarded bd insurance Spatial Division a contract to enhance a Project Information Website (PIW) and develop its map-based functionality The Los Angeles County Department of Public Works has awarded bd Systems, Spatial Division (formerly GIS/Trans) a contract to enhance a Project Information Website (PIW) and develop its map-based functionality. The Website will allow Public Works staff, other County departments, and the general public to query and display all of Public Works' infrastructure projects. The Website database integrates a number of Public Works' systems, including project planning, financial accounting, and document management into a common interface for searching and viewing information. bd Systems will extend the off-the-shelf capabilities of Internet Map Server technology to incorporate online spatial editing, high performance geocoding, and other custom features using geographic information system technologies over the Web. June 2003 Los Angeles County Sex Offender Locator System (SOLS) Web site receives 2003 NACo Achievement Award The Los Angeles County Sex Offender Locator System (SOLS) Web Site developed by bd Systems, Spatial Division for the County was awarded a 2003 NACo Achievement Award. The SOLS Web site can be found at http://gismap.co.la.ca.us/sols/default.htm. The annual NACo New County, USA campaign Achievement Award Program is a non-competitive awards program which seeks to recognize innovative county government programs. NACo’s New County, USA campaign was established to help modernize and streamline county government and to increase its services to its citizens. The Achievement Awards Program gives national recognition to county accomplishments, and has enabled NACo to build a storehouse of county success stories that can be passed on to other counties. May 2003 bd Spatial was selected by Santa Clara VTA for IT Professional Services Contract Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) serves as the transportation planning agency, as well as the transit provider for the Santa Clara County (California). In that capacity VTA not only operates bus and light rail services in Santa Clara County, but also is responsible for highway improvement projects, congestion planning, air quality management plans and multi-modal planning. bd System, Spatial Division was awarded a contract to provide a wide range of IT services on an “as needed” basis over a number of highly qualified IT firms due to our ability to provide outstanding technical services, and our extensive experience with transit and other public agencies. April 2003 Caltrans TFA selects bd Spatial to review their business processes Due to the evolving modeling methods and new technologies, the Caltrans Office of Travel Forecasting and Analysis (TFA) determined they needed to carry out a thorough review of their business processes, the tools and technologies that support those processes, and the roles and functional responsibilities of their staff. To guarantee an objective business process review, TFA selected bd Spatial as an independent, third party consultant, to perform the review and to report their findings and recommendations for improvements. The bd Spatial team brings to this project a broad knowledge of business practices and state-of-the-art developments at State DOTs, experience in transportation information systems and facilitating organizational change at transportation agencies, and a firm understanding of modeling fundamentals and technology. March 2003 Caltrans District 11 improves highway route attribute information Caltrans District 11 contracted with bd Spatial to develop an ArcGIS application that will result in a spatially accurate GIS database as a linear referencing system for mapping and spatial analysis of highway facilities, activities, and infrastructure attributes. The process requires converting a spatially more accurate CAD Highway Alignment database to a GIS file structure based on County-Route-Postmile linear referencing system, and then conflating the less accurate Functional Classification Arc/Info route system attributes to points or linear events occurring on the routes using dynamic segmentation. This process will simplify data maintenance by separating the processes of maintaining route geometry from attribute information while enhancing the positional accuracy of the file. January 2003 San Francisco Bay Area MTC Transit Trip Planner reaches a milestone MTC Press Release announces Transit Trip Planner for the Bay Area reached the two-million mark for Web delivered transit itinerary planning (See MTC Press release: Web-Based Transit Trip-Planner Serves Up Two-Millionth Itinerary at http://www.transitinfo.org/ANNC/20030107.html. Earlier, the TakeTransitTM Transit Trip Planner received the 2002 TRANNY award from the California Transportation Foundation in recognition of excellence in transportation innovation. The system, developed by bd Systems, Spatial Division (formerly GIS/Trans, Ltd) as part of the Regional Transit Information System Project, is a regional transit database that integrates routes, stops and schedules from 23 rail and bus transit providers in the San Francisco Bay Area into one geographically enabled database that is maintained by each transit provider. The regional database serves the TakeTransitTM Transit Trip Planner application, as well as other agency needs. bd Spatial is also designing and developing the new 511 transit portal for MTC and its regional partners, which will eventually replace the current www.transitinfo.org website. December 2002 bd Spatial to implement a Bi-State Transit Trip Planning System in Oregon & Washington Oregon DOT and its partner Washington DOT have contracted with bd Systems, Spatial Division (formerly GIS/Trans, Ltd) to build a "one-stop-shop" that provides comprehensive information and universal access to coordinated transportation services for the people of Oregon and Washington. By leveraging the investments of transit agencies throughout the State, including fixed route providers, demand responsive shuttles/taxis, inter-city services, brokerages, rideshare and bike paths, ODOT can enhance not only the type, but also the quality of public transit information available to the general public. The long-term vision is to develop a system that would not only allow anyone wishing to take a transit trip within the States of Oregon to get information on their travel options, but also to plan, reserve and pay for that trip from one internet site. |
